Why We’re Here

This is the place for you to tap into your best self.

Read on as Ignite’s Owner and CEO, Tiffany Martin, shares her journey and intention as she founded Ignite Cycle.

After months of popups and events, Ignite officially opened in Pepper Place in March of 2019. In the years since its founding, the team has grown from just 5 founding team members to twenty humans committed to helping you find your very best.

From Tiffany…

I came to Birmingham after years of instructing rhythm-based cycle classes - when I moved, there wasn’t a studio here, and I immediately felt the void. Initially, starting Ignite was all about creating a space for me to instruct the way that I wanted. But shoot, doesn’t starting a business seem a little extreme just to be able to instruct? Like, couldn’t I just instruct the way I wanted in a place that already existed rather than throwing my whole heart and soul into starting my own studio? Answering that question led me to do some serious soul-searching about why I really wanted to do this.

Reflecting on my own love for instructing, it didn’t take me long to realize it’s not about getting mic’d up and saying a bunch of motivational things that I love…it’s about showing up and giving my Riders the opportunity to tap into something beautiful inside themselves. It is, and always has been, about you.

Riding at Ignite is all about the experience. It’s about walking in the door and immediately knowing you are a part of something special. It’s about clipping into your bike and anticipating getting at least a glimpse of your best self as you embody the rhythm and lose yourself in the Ride. It’s about encouraging your neighbor and being lifted up by those around you. It’s about feeling somethingSomething powerful happens in that room. It’s an immersive Ride, engaging you in all your best qualities, while pushing you to be better.

So, sure, I could have instructed a class in any room full of shiny bikes and beautiful humans; but to tell you the truth, it just wouldn’t be the same.

It’s not about the bikes or the 4 walls that house them. It’s about who’s on them and how Riders feel on them. We hear it all the time that exercise should be fun - and it should - but it has the potential to be so much more than that. It is going to be hard, and it is going to be worth it. You’re going to sweat, you’re going to want to give up, and occasionally you’re going to fall short of your expectations for yourself. Ignite gives you a consistently challenging, high energy, uplifting workout that will leave you sweaty, sore, and smiling. This is not a space for you to strive for perfection - it is a place for you to strive for your best...because your best is all you have to give. And your best is enough.

From your first “hello” to your last high five, you can count on us to get you into a mindset of joy as you embrace your ability and challenge yourself to become stronger, sweatier, and more empowered to live your best life + be your best self. This is a safe space - bring your good, bad, and your ugly truths. Let that door click shut and lights turn off and forget about it all; or, with every pedal stroke, with every increase in resistance, work that mess out. We are here for you.

Giving you the very best experience possible has always been a top priority for us. To do this, we only invite people onto the team when they show a deep understanding and appreciation for what Ignite is all about. Our Instructors go through an extensive and intense 8 week training so that you can have a safe, effective, and highly motivating Ride.

I am honored to have the opportunity to share what I love with the city of Birmingham. Getting on that bike and riding with you through your own ups and downs is an honor I do not take for granted. Curating a team that is as passionate about it as I am is something I am deeply proud of. Y’all have made me a very lucky girl.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey and for sharing a little part of your life with us. We are so very grateful.
